Kids Electric Guitar: How to Choose it

Here  I will try to help you with becoming sufficiently informed on getting a real kid electric guitar. First thing one needs to realize is that you don't want to get a child "just something cheap" (even though it doesn't have to be something very expensive either).

The reason I say it is because "just something cheap" is usually a nicely boxed monster sitting somewhere at Walmart or Toys Us cryptically, but strategically named something like” First Act". With the rare exception, it will be a waste of your money and child's hearing. Those things are normally have very little to do with actually playing a guitar and rather just toys.

It's important to start your child's musical journey with a right instrument, because it's primarily the sound of the guitar and its design in terms of comfort to deal with will determine child's further desire to explore, play, learn or lack thereof. The look of the guitar comes after.

The market is full with pretty looking "kids electric guitars" that are not too different from Guitar Hero controllers and pretty much unplayable, despite their appearance, including the presence of strings, pick ups and all. It usually comes down to tuning problems, horrific frets and awful tones.

Therefore, if you really love your child, set for a decent quality electric guitar for children, normally manufactured by a major guitar brand and priced around $150. The size of the guitar should be the only thing different from any other electric guitar that is not a joke.

Kids Electric Guitars: Where to buy from

Currently, Musiciansfriend.com offers some decent deals on kids electric guitar:

Daisy Rock Debutante Rock Candy Princess Electric Guitar Pack  (Atomic Pink) is a great package for a girl. Shaped like a classic Gibson, Debutante built as a real guitar and has gotten really good reviews.

It's a maple-necked electric guitar in atomic pink with a 10W amp with overdrive, and enough accessories to make a boy jealous (it also comes with instructional DVD on how to string and tune your guitar, etc., electronic tuner, strap, picks, string winder, polish cloth and protective gig bag.) Price is only $199.00

Kids Electric Guitars: Which one is the best one

Another really, really good kids electric guitar is available on GuitarPlaza.com for only $148.99.  It's Washburn X5 Mini Electric Guitar and is probably the best electric guitar for a child out there. It's only available in Metallic Deep Blue, which makes it acceptable for both girls and boys. It looks and feels absolutely amazing and has a classic, reputable Washburn's specifications (Basswood Body, Maple bolt on neck, Rosewood fingerboard, Dot inlays, 22.625" scale, Washburn humbucker pickups, 3-way toggle switch, Die cast tuners and a limited lifetime warranty). That would be my personal choice, even though it comes with no extras.

There are more decent kids electric guitars/packages available, but you would need to look for them a little. Take your time and avoid anything that is too cheap or affordable", named First Act or Beginners Kit and looks toyish or too rough around the edges.

All of the above are things to keep in mind if you want to properly introduce your child to the wonderful world of guitar and creating music. Don't set for anything less and your child will thank you for that later.
